About Dept. of Psychological Science

The Psychological and Spiritual Health program is designed to develop competent and knowledgeable psychologists and counsellors equipped to address the growing psychological challenges of the 21st century. Rooted in the WHO’s holistic definition of health—which includes physical, mental, social, and spiritual well-being—the course emphasizes the integration of spirituality into psychology to foster resilience, emotional regulation, and overall well-being. It provides comprehensive theoretical and practical training in various fields such as clinical, child, sports, and geriatric psychology, while also highlighting the therapeutic role of spiritual practices like mindfulness, meditation, and prayer. Graduates will be prepared to work in diverse settings including hospitals, clinics, schools, industries, and community programs, contributing to both physical and mental health services as counsellors, psychotherapists, and advisors in public health initiatives.

B.Sc. in Psychological Health and Behavioural Science

Our institute currently offers B.Sc. in Psychological Health and Behavioural Science, which provides students with a strong foundation in scientific psychology, behaviour modification, and mental health principles.

However, over time we have recognized key gaps and emerging needs — students and communities require not just behavioural understanding, but also inner balance, emotional regulation, and spiritual well-being to address the rising tide of psychological distress in modern life.

According to WHO and ICMR data, India has only 0.75 psychiatrists and less than one psychologist per 100,000 population, compared to the recommended minimum of three. This shortfall highlights the urgent need for competent mental health professionals, especially in rural and semi-urban regions, who can offer accessible, culturally sensitive, and integrative care.

Our Vision & Mission

Our Vision

To develop a center of excellence in psychological education that integrates scientific knowledge, practical skills, and human values across the domains of Clinical Psychology, Sports Psychology and Industrial Psychology.

The department aspires to nurture competent, ethical, and culturally sensitive psychology professionals who can enhance mental well-being, optimize human performance, and contribute meaningfully to individual, organizational and societal growth.

Our Mission

To cultivate competent, compassionate, and ethically grounded professionals who integrate evidence-based psychological skills with humanistic values—empowered by modern scientific knowledge and inspired by India's rich traditions of discipline, resilience, and wellbeing—to excel in clinical care, athlete mental conditioning, and organizational excellence.

Build collaborations with schools, colleges, hospitals, sports academies, industries, NGOs, wellness centers and IKS centers to expand accessibility and awareness of mental health services, especially in rural and urban communities.

Promote interdisciplinary research in mental health, neuroscience, psychosocial rehabilitation, workplace studies, sports psychology and integrative health models to foster innovation and a comprehensive understanding of ancient Indian wisdom.
